Serving In Sahel

After many hours of practice, rewriting the script to have 77 speaking parts, and teaching the kids the songs, we were ready to present Sonrise: An Easter Musical this past Sunday .   The kids did such a great job singing praises to the Lord and spreading the good news that He is Risen!   The gospel was presented in word and song. It has been our prayer that seeds were planted among those who heard.                                            Thanks, Beth Botheras for sharing your pictures! As I write this, I just read the sad news about Boko Haram taking 500 children from a Nigerian village. Would you join me in praying for the safety of the children of Nigeria? REMAR orphanage has had several new children arrive from Nigeria because their parents thought it was safer for them to be there than home. Oh Father, protect your precious children.

This year, one of my new responsibilities is to be the faculty advisor for our StuCo (student government). We had a lock-in for secondary students, a Christmas fair for all, and our latest adventure was a Masquerade dinner party. There is no way such a feat could be accomplished without teamwork. I am so thankful for all the help Lucia Eberle and Rachel Gillner gave. What a blessing these ladies are! I am so very proud of all of the StuCo team and especially these guys. As vice president and president, they worked hard and were willing did whatever was asked of them. They put on the serious look for the picture, but they keep me laughing often. The masks were aplenty and so was the laughter and the food, so it seems like the masquerade was a great success.

Have you ever seen something that just made you go, "Hmmmmm, I wonder why or how they did that? Well, that has definitely happened to me many times during my time here in West Africa. Some things I have been able to get pictures of and some I will have to just tell you about.... Hmmm, is that a truck load of head and hooves? Why, yes it is....Beth and I saw this as we were driving home from yesterday's 5K. They were stopped in the middle of the road as a few hooves had tried to escape. Not sure if I even want to know what they are going to do with all those parts.... Hmmmm, what are they carrying on the back of their motorcycles? Well, pretty much anything here- a slab of meat, a windshield, a steel beam, a family of four....you name it and I bet that it has been carried on a motorcycle here.   Hmmm, is that a doctor's mask?
